Before we made TypeGreek Windows, everyone had to either type out a text in a web app or change keyboard to greek, and back to native language. Now you can just press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+T to toggle the program

TypeGreek Windows is a open source and very customizable program to type ancient Greek on a Windows PC. It supports all diacritics, even multiple on one letter.  If any feature in the program is not 100% for you, you can make a addon to improve it, or make a pull request to the source code!
How we made TypeGreek Windows
We coded TypeGreek Windows in AutoHotkey and compiled it to a exe. That allows the program to be ran on every windows computer. Then we coded a installer in nsis to make it easy to install. The addon system is coded in python for quick installs.

Features

All diacritics are supported

We support all the diacritics. You can even set your own keybinds for your diacritics.

Easy installation

We coded a installer for you that will set up the program. It allows you to install the normal version, and/or the beta version.

Full windows compatibility

TypeGreek windows works flawless with most other windows apps. Only apps that manipulate the keyboard theirself can produce some problems.

Diacritic combinations

With TypeGreek windows you can add multiple diacritics to one letter. Not all programs allow that.

Automatic updates

We coded an automatic updater for the program. It is ligthweigth and replaces the program if a new version is available.

Easy keyboard switching

You can easily switch between ancient Greek and your standard keyboard. Just press ctrl+alt+shift+t to switch!

Absolutely love it, it makes it really easy to write stuff in ancient Greek and switch fast between Greek and your regular language. It is a bit annoying that the program closes when you press escape. I would highly recommend this to teachers and students!

About TypeGreek windows

We are students classic languages, and we needed a tool to type ancient Greek with. The tools that are available , are not supported by most apps, use a font to let the text look like Greek, but in fact it is not. The font can't be copy'd sometimes. And if you finally found a program that actually let's you type Greek it is modern Greek. Most apps don't let you type in every app and are just an webapp that transforms normal keys into Greek. We started with a school project, and ended up with a big app with a beatiful GUI.

We started with a empty file and AutoHotkey. Using Github Copilot, we were able to create a good first product. It had all basic functions, but not the diacritics. The diacritics are very important for ancient Greek, As they can change an entire sentence by changing the verbs noun.

We added a GUI and the diacritics, and now it is complete. but we will keep updating it, Not only we, but everyone can do that. The program is open source and everyone can look into the code and suggest changes. See the repository here
